Luke Skywalker Lightsaber

The discovery of Luke Skywalkers lightsaber required a hundred different coincidences to happen in or around the same time. Leia Organa would have to be attacked by Darth Vader on her way to Alderaan, two droids would have to escape to the planets surface, be captured by Jawas, be bough by Owen Lars, escape from and be tracked by Luke. Ultimately Luke almost had to be decpatitated by some Sand People in order for Ben Kenobi to rescue him. Without this string of seeminly unrelated coincidences Luke would have never sat in Ben Kenobis house and be presented with Anakin Skywalkers lightsaber. Being at one with the Force can obviously be an awful lot of trouble at times.

Luke was fortunate in being able to locate a readymade lightsaber as his Jedi skills were almost non-existent at that point and he would have been incapable of building a lightsber himself. Ben Kenobi must have known that the day would come when Luke would claim his rightful place as a Jedi and thus preserved the weapon. Without inheriting his fathers lightsaber Luke would never have been able to partially complete his Jedi training nor face Darth Vader on Bespin.

Like me you'll remember the first time you saw Luke ignite his lightsaber and feeling that sense of awe and wonder and more importantly you wanted one. Owning a lightsaber became every adolescent boys dream. Over the years many replicas and toys have been released but modern electronics have finally caught up and given us a whole range of replica lightsabers to relive our childhood dreams.
